Industrial mixers:
everything you need to know about the vertical mixer
If you are involved in the food, plastics or chemical production industry, you probably need an industrial mixer to mix granular or ground products. Among the different types of mixers, one of the most common and reliable is the vertical mixer.
But what exactly is a vertical mixer? And how does it work?
The vertical mixer is a machine consisting of a conical cylinder body with a vertical rotating shaft with a spiral inside it. The mixing shaft is rotated by a motorisation (gear motor or belt drive). The mixing shaft is supported at the ends by a group of lower bearings and an upper support. Loading can take place pneumatically from above or mechanically by the hopper with forced loading screw conveyor. Unloading can be by gravity through tubes placed on the cone or body, or by suction through drawing probes.
Vertical mixers are capable of mixing large quantities of product and guarantee homogeneous mixing without material deposits. Thanks to their design, these mixers are able to keep products moving and prevent packing due to their physical and chemical characteristics.
Dimensions of vertical mixers
Vertical mixers are available in different sizes and capacities, ranging from 500 litres up to 150,000 litres (150 cubic metres). Installed powers vary depending on the size of the machine and the product to be mixed. Today, with the evolution of plastic products, the market demands products that are more and more packable, heavier and more difficult to mix. By increasing the power of the engines, it is possible to achieve mixes that would otherwise not be possible.
Maintenance of vertical mixers
Industrial mixer safety
In terms of safety, industrial mixers must comply with all CE machine safety standards and only personnel trained for confined environments are allowed inside. The machine is equipped with all suitable safety devices to prevent accidents, such as guards on the drive components and safety micro switches on the doors.
INDUSTRIAL MIXERS FOR HOMOGENISING AND STORING VARIOUS MATERIALS SUCH AS GRANULES, GROUND MATERIALS, FLAKES, MASTERS, POWDERS
Vertical mixers are made to meet a wide variety of industrial mixing requirements for products in the form of granules, ground flakes or powders, as well as products of different specific weights, thus finding use in many different industries such as, plastics, chemicals, food, ecology, pet food.
VERTICAL MIXERS
Vertical mixers make use of a large-diameter vertical mixing screw rotating on bearings, which allows very short mixing times in relation to the mixer’s capacity.

DRUM MIXER
The drum mixer is used in all those processes where there is a need to mix powders homogeneously directly in drums.
- Safety structure with electro-lock system to ensure safe mixing;
- Arm designed to mix 2-litre to 200-litre drums, with a maximum capacity of 200 kg;
- Gearmotor unit for arm rotation and handwheel system for drum repositioning;
- Drum gripping unit with simple and easy-to-tighten clamping bands.
Customisation in other sizes on request.
Drum mixers are environmentally friendly and versatile industrial machines, designed not only to mix and homogenise liquids or powders in various industries, but also to be particularly effective in processing recycled materials, such as plastics. This flexibility makes them key tools in different areas of production, helping to improve the quality and efficiency of processes.
